It’s about that time of year! The holidays are fast approaching, which means it’s time to look ahead. Many of us are excited to move on to 2021 and to forget what has been, for many people, a very disastrous 2020. If you’re anticipating this new year with a lot of hope and optimism, you likely want to make sure you do everything in your power to bring good luck and prosperity in 2021. You need an insurance policy against experiencing another year like this.
Well, with so much at stake, we could all afford to be a little superstitious. So, why not usher in the New Year with a superstition rooted in tradition?
Many of us are well acquainted with typical holiday traditions for New Year’s Eve and Day. We eat with family, we toast champagne, and we light fireworks. This year, try out a tradition that has been carried on for decades, if not centuries, in many countries, including Spain and Italy. This tradition owes its origin to an ancient practice in China stemming from an old myth.
The tradition? Wear red underwear to usher in the New Year.
It is said that wearing red undergarments will bring good luck in the New Year. On December 31st, take a bath before midnight in order to cleanse your body of the bad energies and experiences of the previous year. Then, don your red underwear and make sure you wear it until the new year has started.
There is a catch, however: you must have received these undergarments as a gift. That is why, this year, you should gift your pals a pair of red underwear. Though at first it may seem suggestive or taboo, they’ll be more than thankful when you tell them the story and wish them good luck in 2021.
For many of us, there is always a little bit of magic around the Holiday Season and why not add an extra sparkle by giving your loved ones some luck in a box?
